Hello community,

Thank you on behalf of Conscious Homestead and The Root Social Justice Center for your continued support of the Black Prosperity Initiative. We are honored to notify the public that we have successfully distributed $200,000 in Direct Cash Transfer funds to 20 community members navigating housing insecurity between 2025 and 2026.

Over the course of this year, we have collected data and surveyed our recipients to gather information on the impact of emergency funding and the Direct Cash Transfer model on preventing socio-economic crisis within our Vermont communities.

We only have one more survey to circulate to our Direct Cash Transfer and Indirect Comparison Group recipients in September. Afterwards, a report will be written to share our findings from the data collected over the year.

We hope that our local state representatives, organizations, and businesses take an interest in this data and feel inspired to replicate this Direct Cash Transfer model beyond the Black Prosperity.

It’s been an honor creating the Black Prosperity Initiative. Although it’s ending, we’ll always look back fondly on this moment in time when we got to play with the idea of what was possible. What if we could get resources to those who need them? What if we could keep our people housed?
