Mission Statement

The mission of the student lead activist group; Youth 4 Change is to empower and amplify the voices of all youth. We reach out especially to youth that are  BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Low income, Differently abled and differently schooled along with those oppressed in any other shape or form. Together, the diverse group of youth advocates stand in solidarity and fight for front line communities locally in their educational systems and abroad on national movements. Using art, outreach, protests, trainings, workshops and correspondence to achieve our goals on racial and social justice.

Youth 4 Change and Community Organizers are hosting a Community Conversation on DCF's "Rest Stop" program/plan to house youth in DCF care in police offices.

Our first conversation will focus on the facilities at Windham County Sheriff's Office. with acknowledgment that similar facilities and plans are being proposed or implemented across the state of Vermont. Youth in DCF care undoubtedly deserve beds and safe environments and the current plans of "Rest Stop" fail to consider the potential for long-term negative effects on already vulnerable youth. Together we will learn more on the topic, hear from impacted youth, and organize for more supportive less violent forms of care.

People of ALL ages and identities are welcome. We especially encourage those impacted by DCF to join us and share your voice in this space. Together we can make a difference for the youth of our community!
